As can be seen from the chart, in 1990, the use of computers was not popular yet, with the university student spending merely an average of one hour on the computer per week. However, in 1995, the number of hours was quadrupled, climbing up to four hours per week. In 2000, after a lapse of onlyfive years, it was astonishing to find that the number shot up to nineteen hours every week.
This dramatic change in the average number of hours the student spent on the computer per week took place chiefly for three reasons. In the first place, as the society developed, national economy became prosperous, bringing about the popularity of computers. In the second place, the use of computers went far beyond typing words, making them indispensable not only to secretaries but also to people engaged in other areas. Last but not least, prices for computers were reduced, so much so that common people with a modest income could afford them.
It is true that students have benefited from spending more and more time on the computer, but problems have also arisen. Some students indulge themselves in computer games, refusing to concentrate on their studies, while many other students’ health has been damaged as a result of too much exposure to computers.

Computers play an important role in the modern world. Today they are used in many areas of human activities, such as business, industry, science, and education. In the first place, by using computers, individuals will taste and chew beauty of high technology. Rather, owing to the fact that high technology is processing in a fantastic speed, computers win more and more popularity among individuals and become one of the most vital parts in people's daily lifes. For instance, in the past, my mother could only used letters or telephones to communicate with her friends who lived in another country, which was a waste and time and money. Yet, thanks to the wonderful process of technology, individuals can enjoy unexcepted surprise which computers bring to them. Clearly, since 2000, my mother began to send e-mails instead of wtirren letters to contact with her old friends and quickly got reply from them. Besides, my mother also used QICQ, which was a more convient way to have a face-to-face communication with others. More importantly, since various kinds of communication tools such as Twitter, Facebook, Myspace had born and became the most important factor of individuals' social circle, teenagers in China can use those perfect tools to chat with their peers in U.S. and have a systematic and comprehensive understanding of U.S. school lifes, which is the foundation of their future career success and foreign friendship.
