How to get rid of the pollution of the river
Our school has formed a group to study the subject of “How to get rid of the pollution of the river” Now I would like to say my suggestions of dealing with the subject.
First,we should make some investigations to find out the cause of the pollution we should go and consult our teachers and some experts. Then we’ll go to the internet and find some information on this subject.
Second,we should had in a report on the serious pollution of the river to the government and give our opinions on how to get rid of the pollution to the citizens.
Third,we should form some small groups to collect the waste things on the river during the holidays.Try to plant some trees along the river and set up some bulletin boards to warn the people of caring the surroundings of us.
After all these steps,I think the pollution of the river will be reduced and we’ll learn a lot from these activities at the same time.

February 4,
Sunday Fine
This morning our class organized an environmental protection activity in the nearby park.On arriving there,we were divided into three groups .The first group collected the rubbish ,such as the waste paper ,cigarette ends ,plastic bags and so on.The second group set up several boards to remind the visitors to take care of the flowers and trees. The last group gave a speech to the visitors on the danger of “white pollution” and the importance of protecting the environment.
I think it is very important for us to protect the environment .For the sake of people’s health and happiness, measures should be taken to control and prevent pollution and everyone should make a contribution to it.

Environmental pollution
Environmental pollution is contamination of air, water and land from man-made waste. Pollution leads to depletion of the ozone layer, global warming and climate change. Air pollution is the release of chemicals and particles into the atmosphere. Water pollution includes surface runoff, leakage into groundwater, liquid spills, wastewater discharge and littering. If toxins are spilled on the ground or if an underground storage tank leaks, soil can become contaminated. Well known contaminants include herbicides and pesticides. Toxic waste is waste material, often in chemical form, which pollutes the natural environment and contaminates groundwater.
Other types of pollution include ocean pollution and noise pollution. Environmental pollution can have a deadly effect on humans and ecosystems. For example, cigarette smoke, including second-hand smoke, causes cancer, emphysema, stroke and heart attack. Drinking water can become contaminated by untreated sewage, rashes and skin problems occur due to oil spills, while excessive noise can cause hearing loss. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was established in 1970 to put a limit on the amount of pollutants in the air. Congress passed the Clean Air Act in 1963, the Noise Control Act in 1972 and the Clean Water Act in 1977. Pollution is a bigger concern in other parts of the world, especially developing countries. Time Magazine reported in 2007 that the most polluted spots in the world included China, India, Peru and Russia.
